Farmhouse Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 4 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 4 tsp baking powder
  • Optional: 3/4 cups chopped nuts & 1/2 cup raisins

Directions

  1. Blend together the butter and sugar in a large bowl
  2. Add the eggs, one at a time
  3. Beat in the sour cream and vanilla
  4. Set aside
  5. Combine the flour, baking soda, and baking powder in a separate bowl
  6. Blend thoroughly
  7. Gradually add the flour mixture into the butter mixture
  8. Mix well
  9. The dough should be fairly thick
  10. Roll out on a floured surface
  11. Using a large cookie cutter, cut out the cookies
  12. Arrange on an ungreased baking sheet
  13. Sprinkle with the nuts and raisins, if desired
  14. Bake at 350 F for 15 to 18 minutes
