    Ingredients

    • 1 1/2 c. All-purpose flour
    • 1/2 c. Whole wheat flour
    • 1/2 tsp Baking pwdr
    • 1/2 tsp Salt
    • 1 c. Shortening
    • 1 c. Packed brown sugar
    • 1 c. Granulated sugar
    • 2 x Large eggs
    • 1 tsp Vanilla
    • 2 c. Quick-cooking oats
    • 3/4 c. Minced dates
    • 1/2 c. Minced raisins
    • 1/2 c. Minced pecans
    • 3/4 c. Chocolate bits Coconut, dry apricots, Minced walnuts, Butterscotch chips, etc.

    Directions

    1. Preheat oven to 350. In a medium bowl add in all-purpose and whole wheat flours, baking pwdr and salt. In a large bowl, cream shortening and sugars; blend in Large eggs and vanilla. Beat well. Add in dry ingredients and mix well. Add in oats, fruit, nuts and chocolate bits; fold in thoroughly. Dough will be crumbly. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets, using fingers to shape together. Bake at 350 about 12 min or possibly till golden. Remove to rack to cold.
    2. Yield: about 6 dozen.

      Hello..this recipes sounds wonderful and I love that fact is has WW flour included. Do you have a certain type or brand of shortening you prefer? Would it make a difference if Margarine was used instead of a veg. shortening ? Will enjoy looking at all your other recipes! Dena from Western Canada
