Drechter Koocha (Funnel Cakes)

This is an early funnel cake recipe.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt

Directions

  1. Mix milk and eggs.
  2. Sift flour with baking powder and salt.
  3. Pour milk and egg mixture into flour and blend well.
  4. Mixture must be thin enough to flow thru a funnel. Add more milk if it is too thick. Add milk to make a thinner batter.
  5. To cook the cakes, heat oil to 375 degrees. A 10" skillet filled 2/3 with fat is recommended.
  6. Pour batter into a 1/2" funnel and let it drizzle into the hot fat. A spiral works well.
  7. Brown on both sides.
  8. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
  9. Best served hot.
