Double Chocolate Cranberry Chunkies

Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups flour
  • 1/3 unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 salt
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1tsp vanilla
  • 2 cups semisweet chocolate chunks or large chips
  • 3/4 cup dried cranberries or cherries
  • additional sugar

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350
  2. Combine flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt in a small bowl and set aside
  3. Beat butter, 1 cup sugar and brown sugar in a large bowl with a mixer till light and fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla till well blended.
  4. Gradually beat in flour mixture on low speed until blended.
  5. Stir in chocolate chunks and cranberries.
  6. Drop dough by level 1/4 cupfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets, spacing 3 inches apart. Flatten dough until 2 inches in diameter with bottom of a glass that has been dipped in additional sugar.
  7. Bake 11 to 12 minutes or until cookies are set. Cool cookies 2 minutes on cookie sheets and transfer to wire racks and cool
