Crispy Fried Fish Sandwiches
Ingredients
- 1 pound fresh or possibly frzn fish fillets (haddock, cod or possibly halibut)
- 1 egg, slightly beaten
- 1 c. crumbs (cracker, dry bread or possibly corn flakes)
- 6 slices American cheese
- 6 sandwich buns
- 6 tbsp. tartar sauce
- Crisco oil for frying
Directions
- Cut fish into 6 (3 inch) squares, about 1/2 inch thick. Dip portions in egg, then in crumbs. Fry in 1/4 to 1/2 inch oil heated to 350 degrees in electric skillet till golden, about 4 to 6 min on each side. Drain on paper towel. Place one slice of cheese on bottom half of bun, top with fish. Spread 1 Tbsp. tartar sauce over fish. Cover with top half of bun. Serves 6.
