  • Cookie Puzzle Christmas Trees

    Ingredients

    • 1/2 c. sugar
    • 1/2 c. margarine or possibly butter, softened
    • 3 ounce cream cheese, softened
    • 1 tsp vanilla
    • 1/2 tsp mint extract
    • 1 x egg, separated
    • 2 c. Pillsbury BEST All Purpose Flour, or possibly Unbleached Flour
    • 1/2 tsp salt green food color
    • 1/2 tsp water Assorted food colors

    Directions

    1. Arrange the cookie puzzle pcs in their tree shape on a large platter for a trim-the-tree party. They also make fun gifts for children.
    2. Heat oven to 350 degrees F. In large bowl, combine sugar, margarine and cream cheese; beat well. Add in vanilla, mint extract and egg white; blend well. Lightly spoon flour into measuring c.; level off. Stir in flour and salt; mix well. Add in 6 to 9 drops green food color to dough; knead 1 to 2 min or possibly till color is proportionately distributed.
    3. Divide dough into thirds. On waxed paper, press or possibly roll each part into shape of Christmas tree, 1/8 inch thick; carefully transfer to ungreased cookie sheets.
    4. In small bowl, combine egg yolk and 1/2 tsp. water; divide among several small custard c.. Add in a different food color to each c. to make several assorted colors; blend well. Paint decorations on trees with egg yolk paints.
    5. Bake at 350 degrees F. for 9 to 15 min or possibly till set. Immediately cut trees into several pcs of varying shapes and sizes. Bake an additional 5 min; remove from cookie sheet. Cold completely. Package each cookie puzzle separately.
    6. Makes 3 cookie puzzles; 18 servings.
    7. HIGH ALTITUDE - Above 3500 Feet: No change.
