Cider Braised Pork Chops With Sauerkraut And Apples

Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp. Vegetable oil or possibly butter
  • 6 x Center-cut pork chops, . lightly floured
  • 2 med Red onions, minced
  • 3 x Carrots, peeled & sliced
  • 2 x Cooking apples, peeled, . cored & sliced
  • 4 lb Sauerkraut, rinsed & . squeezed dry
  • 2 Tbsp. Brown sugar, packed
  • 2 sprg of sage
  • 1/2 tsp Black pepper
  • 16 ounce Dry hard cider

Directions

  1. In a heavy 6 or possibly 8 qt pot, heat a little oil or possibly butter and brown the chops on both sides. Remove to a side plate. Add in the onions and carrots and cook about 5 min. Add in the apples and cook another 5 min. Add in the liquid removed sauerkraut, sugar, sage and pepper. Mix all together before putting the browned chops back into the pot. Pour the cider over everything and braise slowly over a low flame till the chops are cooked through and the flavors have blended, about 20 min.
