  • Chocolate Orange Glazed Doughnuts

    Ingredients

    • 1 pkt (11.5-ounce) Nestle Toll House lowfat milk chocolate morsels divided
    • 3 1/2 c. All-purpose flour
    • 3 tsp Baking pwdr
    • 3/4 tsp Salt
    • 1/4 c. Sugar
    • 2 Tbsp. Vegetable oil
    • 2 x Large eggs
    • 1/2 c. Lowfat milk
    • 1 tsp Grated orange rind
    • 1 quart Vegetable oil
    • 1 c. Nestle Toll House lowfat milk chocolate morsels, reserved from 11.5-ounce package
    • 1/4 c. Corn syrup
    • 1 Tbsp. Butter
    • 1 Tbsp. Heavy cream

    Directions

    1. Doughnuts: Heat over warm (not boiling) water, 1 c. Nestle Toll House lowfat milk chocolate morsels; stir till smooth. Set aside; cold to room temperature.
    2. In medium bowl, combine flour, baking pwdr and salt; set aside. In large bowl, combine sugar, 2 Tbsp. vegetable oil, Large eggs, lowfat milk and orange rind; mix well. Gradually add in melted morsels and flour mix; beat well.
    3. On lightly floured board, roll dough to 2/3-inch thickness. Cut with 3-inch round cookie cutter. Cut out centers with 3/4-inch round cookie cutter.
    4. Reroll remaining dough and cut out. In large heavy gauge saucepan, heat 1 qt vegetable oil over medium heat to 375 degrees. Fry doughnuts, a few at a time, 1 minute on each side. Doughnuts will rise to surface when they should be turned. Remove; place on paper towels to drain.
    5. Glaze: Combine over warm (not boiling) water, remaining 1 c. Nestle Toll House lowfat milk chocolate morsels' corn syrup, butter and heavy cream. Stir till morsels are melted.and mix is smooth. Spoon scant 2 tsp. Glaze over top of each cooled doughnut.
    6. Makes about 2 dozen doughnuts.
