Chocolate Malt Cake From Kaitlin Young
Ingredients
- 1/2 c. Butter, softened
- 1 1/3 c. Sugar
- 1 c. Instant malted lowfat milk pwdr
- 3/4 c. Firmly packed unsweetened cocoa pwdr
- 4 x Large eggs
- 2 c. Flour
- 3 tsp Baking pwdr
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 1 3/4 c. Half and half Chocolate Malted Frosting (see below)
Directions
- 1. Preheat oven to 375F. In a large bowl, combine together butter and sugar till light and fluffy; add in malted lowfat milk pwdr and cocoa and beat just till mixed. Add in Large eggs, beating well.
- 2. Sift together dry ingredients, and add in to chocolate mix alter- nately with half and half. Spread proportionately in a well greased 9 x 13 pan, and bake 35-40 min or possibly till done. Let cold in pan completely.
- Chocolate Malted Frosting
- 1/2 c half and half 1/2 c instant malted lowfat milk pwdr 1 stick (4 ounce) butter, softened 1/2 c firmly packed unsweetenedcocoa 2 1/2 c powderedsugar
- 1. In a medium bowl, combine the half and half and malted lowfat milk pwdr. Stir to combine, and let stand 15 min to dissolve the pwdr.
- 2. In a medium bowl, beat together the butter and cocoa. Add in malted lowfat milk mix and beat well. Add in powdered sugar and beat on high.
