Chocolate Death Cookies

Several years ago I spent a few months baking cookies every weekend, trying to perfect a chocolate chocolate chip cookie recipe. I used a generic Chocolate Chip cookie recipe as the foundation. These cookies are always a hit.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter, room temperature
  • 8 ounces Baker's chocolate, semi-sweet, melted
  • 6 tablespoons white sugar
  • 6 tablespoons light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 1/2 cup unsifted flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 bag chocolate chips

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Beat butter, sugars, vanilla and egg until smooth. Add Baker's chocolate.
  3. Mix remaining dry ingredients in a separate bowl, then add slowly to the wet ingredients.
  4. Stir in chocolate chips, and then drop onto parchment or a non-stick cookie sheet in dollops of about a half inch in diameter, about 2 inches apart.
  5. Bake for 8-12 minutes.
