Ingredients

  • 3 sqr Unsweetened Chocolate
  • 1/2 c. Lowfat milk
  • 1 x Egg, Well Beaten
  • 2/3 c. Sugar
  • 1/2 c. Butter
  • 1 c. Sugar
  • 2 x Egg Yolks, Well Beaten
  • 2 c. Cake Flour, Sifted
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Baking Soda
  • 1 c. Lowfat milk

Directions

  1. Cook chocolate, lowfat milk, egg and sugar to custard stage. Cold completely. Beat butter, sugar and egg yolks till fluffy. Add in alternately dry ingredients with liquid. Blend in cooled chocolate custard.
  2. Bake 350 degrees in 8 inch pans. 25-30 min. Don't overbake.
  3. NOTES : When I was a student nurse, a volunteer RN brought this cake in weekly. She frosted it was a chocolate frosting. I This is our family's favorite. I use a white frosting.
