  • Chocolate/Coconut Bars

    Ingredients

    • 2 c. Crushed graham crackers
    • 1/4 c. Granulated sugar
    • 1/2 c. Melted butter or possibly margarine - (1 stick)
    • 1 can Sweetened condensed lowfat milk (not evaporated) - (15 ounce)
    • 2 c. Flaked coconut
    • 1 pkt Semisweet chocolate chips - (6 ounce)

    Directions

    1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
    2. Combine graham cracker crumbs, sugar and butter. Mix well. Pat into ungreased 13- by 9- by 2-inch pan. Bake for 15 min.
    3. Combine condensed lowfat milk and coconut. Spread on baked layer. Return to oven; bake 15 min longer.
    4. Heat chocolate; spread over baked layers. Let cold in pan set on rack, then cut into 2 1/2- by 1 1/4-inch bars.
    5. Yield: 36 bars.
    6. Tester's note: Easy, quick and rich. A nice holiday cookie.
