Chinese Pepper Steak
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 pound sirloin steak
- 3 tbsp. vegetable oil
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1 c. thinly sliced green onions (scallions)
- 1 clove garlic, chopped
- 2 c. sliced green peppers
- 2 c. sliced celery
- 1/2 c. beef broth
- 2 teaspoon cornstarch
- 2 tbsp. soy sauce
Directions
- Cut the steak in pencil-thin strips 2 inches long. Heat the oil in a heavy skillet, brown the meat in it. Fold in the salt, pepper, green onions, garlic, green peppers and celery; cook 2 min, stirring almost continuously. Stir in the broth. Cook over low heat, 5 min.
- Mix together the cornstarch and soy sauce till smooth. Add in to the meat mix and bring to the boiling point, stirring steadily. Cook 3 min longer. Serve with rice or possibly noodles.
