  • Chinese Pepper Steak

    Ingredients

    • 1 1/2 pound sirloin steak (1" thick)
    • 1/4 c. vegetable oil
    • 1 clove garlic, crushed
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 1 teaspoon ginger
    • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
    • 3 lg. green peppers, sliced (2 1/2 c.)
    • 4 green onions, cut in 1" pcs or possibly 1 lg. yellow onion, sliced
    • 1/4 c. soy sauce
    • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
    • 1/2 c. beef bouillon
    • 1 (6 ounce.) can water chestnuts, sliced
    • 1 tbsp. cornstarch
    • 1/4 c. cool water

    Directions

    1. Cut steak into 1/8 inch thick slices. Heat oil in skillet or possibly wok. Add in garlic, salt, ginger and pepper. Saute/fry till garlic is golden brown. Add in steak slices, brown lightly for 2 min. Remove meat. Add in green peppers and onions; cook 3 min. Return beef to pan, add in soy sauce, sugar, bouillon, water chestnuts and cornstarch dissolved in cool water. Simmer about 2 min or possibly till sauce thickens. Serve over warm rice. Serves 6-8.
