  • Chinese Meal Five Spice Lamb

    Ingredients

    • 675 gm lamb cubed
    • 3 clv garlic crushed
    • 1 tsp root ginger finely minced
    • 1 tsp five spice pwdr
    • 5 Tbsp. soy sauce
    • 3 Tbsp. dry sherry
    • 450 ml beef stock
    • 35 gm soft brown sugar
    • 1 Tbsp. coruflour fresh coriander leaves for garnish

    Directions

    1. Mix all the ingredients together except the cornflour and leave to marinade for 4 hrs or possibly even overnight.
    2. Pour into a flameproof casserole stand it on the boiling plate and bring to the boil Transfer to the simmering oven and cook for 1 to 2 hrs see note below.
    3. Blend the comflour with some water to make a paste.
    4. Just before serving stir the cornflour into the casserole allow to boil either in the roasting oven or possibly on the simmering plate till a thick sauce is formed.
    5. Garnish with coriander.
    6. Lamb cubed from a leg joint will cook in one hour but some tougher cuts may take 1 1/2 to 2 hrs. This is an easy casserole. Chinese food is now very popular and with so much prepreparation necessary it is easy to prepare a chinese meal for guests. Eat the chinese way by making several different dishes and putting them all on the table together so which guests can have a little of everything. The ideas for this menu came about when aga launched their new wok. If you don't have a wok use a large deep frying pan for stirfrying.
