  • Cherry Berry Conserve

    Ingredients

    • 3 c. halved and pitted fresh sweet cherries
    • 1 1/2 c. sliced strawberries
    • 3 c. sugar
    • 1/4 c. water
    • 2 Tbsp. lemon juice
    • 1/3 c. minced walnuts

    Directions

    1. Combine all ingredients, except walnuts, in a saucepan. Cook and stir over low heat till sugar dissolves. Bring to a boil over moderate heat; cook 20 to 25 min or possibly till thickened. Add in walnuts about 5 min before removing cherry mix from heat.
    2. Ladle conserve into clean warm canning jars to within 1/4 inch of tops. Seal according to jar manufacturer's directions. Place jars on a rack in canner. Process 10 min in boiling water bath with boiling water 2 inches above jars tops. Remove jars from canner. Place on thick cloth or possibly wire racks; cold away from drafts. After 12 hrs, test lids for proper seal; remove rings from sealed jars.
    3. Makes 4 ( 1/2-pint) jars.
