  • Carne a la Gringo

    Ingredients

    • 4 pork steaks
    • 1 bottle Mexican beer
    • 1 tsp. cumin
    • 1 Tbls. garlic, crushed
    • 1 Tbls. chili powder
    • salt & pepper to taste
    • 2 Tbls. cilantro, chopped
    • ½ cup salsa
    • 2 Tbls. vegetable oil

    Directions

    1. Salt and pepper steaks.
    2. Heat vegetable oil in a fry pan and sear pork steaks on each side.
    3. Remove excess oil and add beer, then add cumin, chili powder, crushed garlic and salsa.
    4. Simmer until tender and sprinkle with cilantro.
    5. Serve with hominy, (mexican corn) or black beans.

        I like to buy whole boneless pork roasts at Costco and slice them into 1" thick chops. This sounds very tasty and I'm going to try this out tomorrow night.

          Correction for the Spanish impaired. The title of the recipe should be either "Carne a la Gringa" or "Carne al Gringo". The number and gender of adjectives in Spanish always agree with the noun they are modifying. Hey! At least I reek of garlic!! <grin>
