  • Cabbage Patch Soup/Stew

    Ingredients

    • 1 lb Grnd beef
    • 1 1/2 c. Coarsely minced cabbage
    • 1/2 c. Sliced celery
    • 2 med Onions, thinly sliced
    • 1 c. Water
    • 2 tsp Chili pwdr
    • 3/4 tsp Salt
    • 1/4 tsp Pepper
    • 15 ounce Can kidney beans, liquid removed
    • 16 ounce Can stewed tomatoes, Undrained
    • 1 x Recipe Cheese Dumplings (See recipe)

    Directions

    1. Cook grnd beef in Dutch oven, stirring occasionally, till brown; drain.
    2. Stir in cabbage, celery and onions. Cook stirring occasionally, till vegetables are light brown. Stir in remaining ingredients. Heat to boiling; reduce heat. While beef mix is simmering, prepare Cheese Dumplings
    3. (see recipe). Drop dumpling dough by 10 to 12 spoonfuls onto warm beef mix (don't drop directly into liquid). Cook uncovered 10 min.
    4. Cover and cook 10 min longer.
