Ingredients

  • 1 quart Buttermilk, warmed
  • 1 c. Shortening
  • 1 c. Sugar
  • 2 pkt Yeast
  • 1/2 c. Hot Water Flour
  • 1/2 c. Flour
  • 2 tsp Baking Pwdr
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Baking Soda

Directions

  1. Dissolve yeast in hot water.
  2. Mix buttermilk, shortening, sugar and yeast. Add in sufficient flour to make a thick batter.
  3. Set to rise double in size.
  4. Mix 1/2 c. flour, baking pwdr, salt & soda. Add in to batter. Add in sufficient flour to make dough handle till not sticky.
