    This is one of my asawa ko's favorite soups. He says the bone marrow tapped out of the bone is the best part. Some recipes use beef bone marrow brought from the asian market and saba depending on the region. If you choose to you may use a pressure cooker to speed it up.

    Ingredients

    • 1kg or 2.2 lbs beef shankbone and marrow included.
    • 1 onion, peeled and sliced
    • 10 cups water
    • 3 -4 medium potatoes
    • 1 small head cabbage quartered
    • 3-4 TBS patis (fish sauce)
    • salt and pepper to taste

    Directions

    1. Place water.onion and beef shank in pot bring to boil lower heat and simmer until beef is tender about one and a half hours.
    2. Add potatoes
    3. Simmer until potatoes are tender
    4. Add the cabbage and stir in fish sauce and salt and pepper
    5. Cook until cabbage is tender -crisp, about 2 minutes.
    6. Serve with rice.
