    Boerewors is a delicious traditional sausage type meat eaten mostly at braais (BBQ's) There are as many varieties as there are enthusiastic creators. :)

    Ingredients

    • 225g butter or margarine
    • 3 cups flour
    • 5 ml salt
    • 10g packet instant dry yeast (1.5 cubes)
    • 200 ml lukewarm water
    • Boerewors cut into 8 equal lengths (about 500g) or use your favourite sausages in the same way

    Directions

    1. Rub butter into flour.
    2. Add yeast salt and water knead until smooth.
    3. Place in a plastic bag - or cover in a bowl and allow to prove for 1hour.(approximately)
    4. Roll out into a long strip about 50 mm wide.
    5. Place one piece of boerewors at a time onto dough and cut to size ensuring that the wors is covered and edges protrude from "roll".
    6. Seal with milk or water.
    7. Repeat process until all wors has been used.
    8. Place on a greased baking tray and allow to rise again.
    9. Glaze with milk or beaten egg.
    10. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes @ 220 c 450 F
