  • Bj's Hamburger Chowder

    Ingredients

    • 2 lbs. hamburger
    • 1 onion, minced
    • 1 (28 ounce.) can tomatoes
    • 1 (10 1/2 ounce.) can consomme
    • 1 can water
    • 1 beef bouillon cube in 1 c. boiling water
    • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
    • Salt & pepper to taste
    • 1 c. diced celery with some leaves
    • 1 c. diced carrots
    • 1 (10 ounce.) pkg. frzn lima beans
    • 1 (12 ounce.) can shoe peg corn, undrained
    • 1/4 c. pearl barley

    Directions

    1. Brown beef and onion in deep kettle, stirring. Add in tomatoes, consomme, water and bouillon. Simmer while preparing celery and carrots. Add in lima beans, corn, carrots, celery and cook a few min before adding barley. Then add in barley and seasonings. Cook slowly, covered, for 45 min to 1 hour. If too thick, add in more consomme. Great for cool snowy days.
