    I LOVE LOVE LOVE to BAKE!!! It is almost certainly the primarily favored thing I share from my kitchen. This recipe is fairly easy to make even for novice bakers but will have people thinking you toiled away making it. If you chose to top with frosting you can make your own or buy one off the shelf & make that your little secret. These are so moist they will melt in your mouth that is if you can get them out of the pan without falling apart (ha ha) Pleasurable & Blissful Baking  Maribeth

    Ingredients

    • 2 C flour
    • 2 C sugar
    • 1/2 C butter
    • 1/2 C shortening (I suggest butter flavored Crisco)
    • 1 C strong brew coffee(flavored if you like, water can be subsisted but I don’t suggest)
    • 1/4 C unsweetened cocoa
    • 1/2 C buttermilk
    • 2 eggs
    • 1 tsp baking soda
    • 1 Tbsp vanilla

    Directions

    1. Place eggs, buttermilk & vanilla in a bowl set to the side
    2. In a mixing bowl place flour,sugar & baking soda
    3. In a sauce pan melt butter & Crisco once completely melted & mixed add coffee bring to a slow boil slowly add cocoa until well blended
    4. Start mixer & add contents of saucepan with dry ingredients
    5. Once mixed then add contents of egg mixture
    6. Let mix well periodically scraping the side of bowl
    7. Once batter is well mixed pour in a greased deep side cookie sheet place in heated oven
    8. Cook until toothpick is clean when inserted in middle
    9. Once cooled frost if you want then cut in to squares
    10. Heat oven to 400*
    11. Enjoy!

        Oh. These were awesome I used mocha flavored coffee and gave it that extra chocolate flavor I did not get to frost them my family dug in before I could I give you a thumbs up

          so glad your family loved them the mocha coffee is a good combo next time try it with Carmel flavored it is yummy as well hopefully next time you can get them frosted huh then they will be fighting to get to the last one glad they were a hit-MBC

              thanks Annie they are sinful they taste great with cream cheese frosting i will follow soon with a recipe if you do not have one already
