These delicious ribs were served on the munchy-menu in the bar of an Alaskan roadhouse I once used to go for beers at with friends. In a pinch, they are even delicious cold- right outta the fridge!

    Ingredients

    • 2 c. water
    • 1/2 c. soy sauce
    • 1 clove garlic, minced
    • 3 lbs. spareribs, cut in 2-inch lengths
    • ½ c. brown sugar
    • ½ c. honey
    • 1 T. cornstarch
    • 1T. sesame seeds
    • 2 T. chopped green onion
    • 1/4 t. ginger
    • 2 t. red pepper flakes

    Directions

    1. In a large saucepan combine water, 1/4 c. soy sauce and garlic. Place ribs in the liquid and bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover and simmer over low heat, 1 hour. Remove cover, bring to a boil and cook 20 minutes longer. Drain, reserving 1/4 cup cooking liquid.
    2. Mix remaining ¼ c. soy sauce, brown sugar, honey, cornstarch, sesame seeds, green onion, ginger and red pepper flakes. Place spareribs and reserved 1/4 cup cooking liquid in skillet over medium heat. Pour seasoned soy mixture
    3. Cover ribs and cook, turning ribs often and spooning sauce over until sauce is thickened and adheres to the ribs, about 10-15 minutes.
