An old family recipe which I believe originated (in my family at least) with a Penn. Dutch recipe called "Cream Pie" which had no fruit, just the other ingredients. Simple to make, and yummy. I've added an egg to the original ingredients and this is also wonderful as "Rhubarb Cream Pie".

    Ingredients

    • 9" Pie crust of your choice
    • Apples, sliced (or rhubarb) to fill, but not heaped, pie crust lined pan
    • 1 c. sugar
    • 1 c. cream
    • 3 T. flour
    • 1 egg, beaten
    • cinnamon, to taste
    • butter

    Directions

    1. Preheat oven to
    2. Line pie pan with crust and fill with fruit, do not heap
    3. In separate bowl, mix sugar, flour and cinnamon. Then add egg, and cream.
    4. Pour over fruit.
    5. Sprinkle with more cinnamon and dot with butter.
    6. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 min., then lower heat to 375 and bake (covered with inverted pie pan or lid) until done, approx. 35-40 min.
