  • Almanzo's Favorite Swiss Steak

    Ingredients

    • 1/2 c. flour
    • 1 tsp salt
    • 1/2 tsp freshly-grnd black pepper
    • 2 lb round steak, 1 1/2" thick - (to 3 lbs)
    • 2 Tbsp. butter
    • 2 Tbsp. oil
    • 2 x garlic cloves minced
    • 1 can condensed cream of mushroon soup dlluted with
    • 2 can lowfat milk or possibly water

    Directions

    1. Combine flour and seasonings.
    2. Lb. the flour into both sides of the steak and let stand for 1/2 hour.
    3. Heat butter and oil in large skillet. Brown steak on both sides. Add in garlic and cook for a minute.
    4. Add in soup and simmer for 1 to 2 hrs, till meat is tender. Cooking time will depend upon thickness and tenderness of the meat.
    5. This recipe yields 6 servings.
