Kinda Sorta Shepherds Pie
This simple and delicious recipe puts a new spin on the all time favorite, shepherds pie. Ingredients
- 1.5 pounds ground beef
- 1 jar beef gravy
- 1 can corn
- 4 potatoes
- 1 egg (beaten)
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 2 large spoonfuls sour cream
- milk to taste
Directions
- boil the potatoes until very soft.
- cook the beef until browned in a large skillet.
- stir the gravy and corn into the beef. simmer, stirring occasionally.
- strain the potatoes. put them in a mixing bowl and mix on medium speed with an electric mixer until smooth and all chunks are gone. add the butter and sour cream about 1 minute into mixing. add milk until the mashed potatoes are as creamy as you want them to be.
- put the corn, beef, and gravy mixture into a casserole dish and smooth out with a spatual.
- put the potatoes on top of the beef, corn, and gravy in the casserole dish. smooth out with a spatula.
- brush the top of the potatoes with egg. do not use the whole egg. just use as much as you want.
- broil on 350 degree heat for approximately 10 minutes, or until there is a golden brown crust on the top of the potatoes.
