This is my Grandmother's Chili Sauce recipe that was published in the Detroit News years ago. Enjoy!

    Ingredients

    • 12 pounds tomatoes
    • 1 stalk celery
    • 12 onions
    • 6 red peppers
    • 6 green peppers
    • 3-4 C. cider vinegar to taste
    • 3-6 C. sugar to taste
    • 1/2 t. cinnamon
    • 1/2 t. nutmeg
    • 1/2 t. dry mustard
    • pinch of ginger
    • 1/2 of a 1.25-oz, box of pickling spices
    • 1/2 t. salt to taste

    Directions

    1. Coarsely chop tomatoes, celery, onions and peppers. Combine all ingredients and cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking, for 4-6 hours or until thick. Pour into hot sterilized jars and process in boiling water for 15 minutes.
